A strap-on dildo (or, simply, “strap-on”) is basically a harness
equipped to hold a dildo such that whoever is wearing the harness
can use it as if they were a male wielding a real penis! Though they
were originally designed to allow lesbians to enjoy penetrative sex,
they are also used by women who want to anally penetrate a man (for
those open enough to want to try it), or even men who want to
provide a double-penetration experience for a woman.
There are many different models of strap-ons available. When
selecting one to use, the primary things to consider are price, fit
and selection of attachments. If you are looking for one to use on a
long-term basis, I *highly* recommend you select one based on the
best fit. Strap-ons that fit loosely or awkwardly will wear out
quicker, and are more irritating to use than ones that don’t.
The *Really* Cheap Ones
This kind is really nothing more than a dildo with a cheap harness
that goes your waist. You literally have to hold this one in place
while you’re fucking your partner with it, which makes using it
cumbersome, and pretty much negates the real intent to being able to
use a strap-on to begin with. These are very inexpensive (Around $20
or so). I *highly* discourage the use of these models altogether.
This is an example of the cheap one – avoid these kinds!

Mid Range Models
These are mid-range harnesses that can work considerably better than
the really cheap ones. These are usually harnesses (some of which
are really nice quality) that have a hole in the front end of them
to allow the user to insert a dildo of their choosing. These tend to
be a little better quality, and can usually be worn tight enough to
allow for them to be used in “hand’s free” mode for short periods of
time. These will have a price range of from $30 to more than $100,
depending on the quality of the harness (and whether or not they
include the dildo when you buy it). The models with the leather
straps are usually the ones that last the longest.
Some of these models claim to have little devices or designs that
allow for stimulation of the woman’s clit while she’s driving (using
it on her partner). As a general rule, with all of the movement of
the harness on the wearer, these don’t work very well, and I
recommend that you not use this in your consideration of which one
to buy.

Example of the harness with a dildo in it
There is also a line of “strap-ons” that are basically latex panties
with a dildo built into the front of them. The driver puts this on
pretty much just like she would a regular pair of panties. Since the
“panty” part of it is made of latex, it is supposed to accommodate a
wide diversity of sizes. In practice, however, if your ass doesn’t
fit the unit such that it is fairly tight on you, it will either be
too tight or too loose. Either way, the experience of using it is
not that great for either party.

The Vac-U-Lock
The Vac-U-Lock strap-on is, for all intents and purposes, the Type 2
strap-on. The harness itself has a peg, however, that is used to
support a wide variety of different attachments. Right now, there
are approximately 30 different types of dildos that can be purchased
to work with this harness, including some that are double-headed to
allow for one female to provide another with the DP experience. The
harness itself is capable of supporting butt plugs and vaginal plugs
to allow the wearer to enjoy stimulation while using it as well.
There are several different harness packages ranging in price from
around $70 to well over $100 (and they make models for both men and
women). This unit fits really well, and the only real complaint I
have involves the older models (guess which I have! Lol). The straps
tended to come loose from the harness itself after a period of use.
I understand that they’ve fixed this in the newer models, however.
This is a personal favorite of mine – we own several attachments!

An attachable dildo for the Vac-U-Lock
The Feeldoe
The “Feeldoe” is a unique “strapless” dildo, but it functions just
like a regular strap-on, so it is covered here. The Feeldoe works by
having the wearer insert the bulbous end into her vagina (or rectum)
and using it just as she would if it were a regular strap-on. If the
wearer wants, she can grab a hold of it with her PC muscles and get
a workout while she’s fucking her partner with it. The little ridges
on the unit supposedly work to help stimulate the clit of the
driver. You can get these with or without internal vibrators as
well. They run around $70.00. The only down side to these is that
there are only two sizes to select from (though you are likely to do
fine with whichever one you pick). Interestingly enough, the Feeldoe
was invented by a woman!

Using the Strap-On
There’s really no secret to using one of these things. You put the
harness on and get it comfortable, put the right dildo or attachment
on it (if it isn’t already on), and pretend you’re a guy with a
penis (or two!). The most important thing to remember is that the
receiving partner must communicate with the driving partner, because
the driver has no feeling in the dildo and doesn’t/can’t know when
things are not going in very well (i.e., if the receiving vagina or
rectum is too dry).
Most of the attachments and dildos available for these things are
made of latex, though there are some made of the jelly-like
materials on the market as well. Be sure you use the right lubes so
that you don’t damage your dick! You can clean the dildoes off just
as you would any other dildo – warm water and soap!
There are a wide variety of dildos available for the mid-range
models and of course, the Vac-u-Lock unit. They come in just about
any size imaginable, and even include those that “squirt” or cum
(using whatever liquid you choose to put in them – I’ve seen people
use beer or whiskey in them! Give head, get drunk! Lol)
As someone who’s been on the receiving end of these kinds of
devices, I will tell that they definitely do not have the same
feeling to them as you experience when you are penetrated by a real,
live penis. They just lack the true feel, the warmth and the
response that a real one possesses. But, in the absence of a real
one (or if you have an aversion to real ones!), they work well for
their intended purpose!
