Pregnancy
upperright_pregnancy One of the two primary considerations you must address prior to becoming sexually active is what happens if you become pregnant; or, if you're a guy, what happens if you get someone pregnant. A pregnancy will alter your life forever, regardless of how you elect to deal with it. The United States has the highest teen pregnancy rates of any develop country on the planet - more than double the next highest rate, in fact. This is due in large part to the lack of education on the appropriate use of birth control in school sex education programs. Over 1 million teens will become pregnant this year, with more than 95% of those being unintended. Of these, 1/3 of them will end in miscarriage, 1/3 will be aborted, and the remainder will be carried to term.

If you are going to be sexually active, spend some time evaluating the best options for birth control for you and your partner before you begin having sex.

Dealing with an unplanned pregnancy can be an anxious time. It is important for you to understand what is involved when you become pregnant. You have options to consider, and decisions to make based on how those options fit into your lifestyle and your value system.

If you elect to carry the pregnancy to term, it is essential that you understand how your body is going to react, and the importance of prenatal care for both you and your baby. You will have a responsibility for your life AND the life of your child, and it is critical that you do what you can to assure that it develops in as healthy a set of conditions as you can provide for it.
